Hello friends of Roasting House!
The spring equinox is upon us (hallelujah). Next Thursday, the Earth’s axis will straighten up, so that neither hemisphere is tilting toward or away from the sun. Instead, sunlight will shine directly on the equator, meaning that—for one day only!—the length of day will be about equal in both hemispheres. In Brooklyn, we pass into spring while the southern hemisphere passes into autumn. We’ll suspend in that balance, welcoming the light, and letting go of the dark.
To honor this celestial transition, we’ll be holding a very special reading next Thursday, March 20. And get this: we’re adding a community dinner served by Sarah Huck, the brilliant chef behind Kos Kaffe (with help from friend-of-the-reading Josie Lee). We’ll eat, drink, listen, read, laugh, learn, and welcome in this new, brighter season together. (And you’ll find out if Sarah actually managed to “keep it simple.”)
Tickets are limited! You can find them here, at a sliding scale of $10-25.
Alumni News!
Seeing what our past readers are writing, reading, and sharing brings us joy, so we wanted to share their news with you all too:
Check out Limousine co-host Leah Abrams’s recent interview with Jeremy Gordon on media jobs (ok flex), male loneliness, and modern malaise.
And Thomas Wee was interviewed for Working Artist Mag about navigating a practice—and career—of writing. (Plus, a little preview of their novel!)
As always, keep up with us online. We don’t post that much but when we do, you’ll see it! And if you want to read at a future RH, fill out this form—we can’t wait to read your work.
